Village Roast Duck @ Bangsar Village, Kuala Lumpur

Village Roast Duck at Bangsar Village - This place goes into my favourite list of restaurants in KL for few reasons. One; I love duck meat, and Two; the rest of the menu is great! The roasted duck here is a bit more moist and soft compared to other restaurants without losing out the crispiness of the skin. There's also a strong tint of sweetness in it but not overwhelming.

The restaurant was packed even on a weekday and service is quick and precise. We were lucky to get a table as soon as we arrived, with only moments later, a crowd was gathering at the entrance with a waiting list.

The main dish : A portion size is enough for 2/3 person

Mixed vegetable with mince meat, a quick and tasty dish

Honey ribs was part of our menu as well. 

We love the dry chili oil sauce to go along with the meals. 

Overall, a very satisfying meal and a great place for family dining. The price would be slightly above average but with the great service and great food, makes it all worthwhile.

Buddy Bears in Kuala Lumpur

The Buddy Bears are being displayed in from of the Pavilion Mall, Kuala Lumpur, along Jalan Bukit Bintang. Here are some shots of the public display.

Sri Hartamas - Our hood...

July 2011- It's nice going back and see some of the places we like and how it has developed along the years. Plaza Hartamas and Mont Kiara has certainly increased in population and traffic count, but the charm is still there. Here are some pics of our day around the area.

Typical Streetscape environment

View from our apartment towards the streetscape and commercial lots above plaza hartamas. These strata commercial lots 'gives back' the street level and pedestrain realm of a traditional shophouse environment to the site. Below is a shopping mall, MSCP and M&E services. Though within itself, the public realm seems to be well connected but with the rest of the context is somewhat disconnected. However, there is an attempt here to link to the opposite development via a pedestrian bridge.

Details and Interiors: Bukit Bintang - Part 2

As I am in the topics of interior, here are some pictures of last year's Christmas season photo of Pavilion. The impressive amount of budget put into the space really reflects on the confidence to boost the consumer's appetite during the holiday season.

having some of these decorations on the exteriors somewhat attracts more footfall into the building.

the change of color and texture and a variety of grain of elements changes the atmosphere of the interior entirely for this space

cafe which capitalizes on open space and high-volume always seems to work to add more life into the otherwise lack-of-human-scale space.

I'm just wondering how is this year going to compete or be different from the last. They are gonna have to top this one.

Another interior/exterior space which I really enjoy is the naturally ventilated gap between the Cinema and the rest of the mall in Pavilion. There are many restaurants and eateries within the space that creates a buzz of life, different from an entirely indoor experience.

Exceptionally wide corridor arcade space allows spill over spaces along it, making it less formal and more inviting

of course, media element is always an appreciated added layer of information to the space. Is anyone really looking into that screen, I wonder....

this in-between space of just a covered roof, capitalizes on shadow casting over a narrow corridor and perhaps indirect cooling from the adjacent air-cond diffuser. I hope to see more climatic responsive space designed like these to have a more sustainable energy use in the future developments in the country.

Details and Interiors: Bukit Bintang - Part 1

This place is packed with shopping malls and each is trying to outdo each other to attract more footfall within their premise. Here are some shots of the interiors of the establishments along the street.
